    Chain-linked handcuffs with double locking mechanism.

    • 1.Handcuff: Each handcuff will have a minimum opening of 1 7/8 inches for insertion of the wrist. The inside perimeter of the handcuff will be a minimum of 8 inches when the jaw is engaged at the first notch entering the locking mechanism. The inside perimeter of the handcuff will be a maximum of 6 1/2 inches when the jaw is engaged at the last notch entering the locking mechanism. The overall maximum length of each handcuff, including swivel eye and when the jaw is engaged will be 4 1/4 inches.
    • 2.Chains: Each pair of handcuffs will be connected with a length of chain. Each link in the chain will be welded. The end links will connect with the swivel eyes which will be attached to each pair of handcuffs. The length of chain including swivel eyes, between each pair of handcuffs will be 1 1/2 inches to 2 inches.
    • 3.Locks: Each handcuff will be provided with a double-locking mechanism, i.e., a mechanism which will be capable of locking automatically when the handcuff is applied to the wrist and which is capable of securing the jaw of the handcuff against travel in either direction. Locking mechanisms will not unlock without the use of keys. Opening of the locks by tampering will not be accomplished when the handcuff is tested. In addition, the locking mechanism will be capable of withstanding a static load of 500 pounds without fracture or distortion of the mechanism.
    • 4.Pins, Bolt and Key: Bolt pins and key pins will have diameters a minimum of .002 inches larger than the required holes in the cheek plates. The interface fit fabrication will not cause the bolt or key pin to shear out the plates or to deform the pins or the holes. The ends of all bolt and key pins will not be below the exposed surfaces of the plates. Heading of the pins will be permitted as an alternate method of securing the pins, providing sharp edges do not result.
    • 5.Weights: Each pair of handcuffs will weigh not more than 13 ounces.
    • 6.Keys: Keys will be furnished with each pair of handcuffs.
    • 7.Welding: All welds will be sound and smooth, and free from cracks incomplete fusion and deformation of material.
    • 8.Marking for Identification: The finished handcuffs will be permanently marked with the manufacturer's name or trade mark.
    • 9.Operating Instructions: Each pair of handcuffs will be provided with operating instructions.
    • 10.Workmanship: The handcuffs will be free of burrs, slivers, sharp edges, dents, tool marks or corrosion. The finish will not be scratched, damaged or marred exposing base metal. Components will not be broken or malformed.
    The handcuff case will:
    • of an open or closed design.
    • 2.allow for one or two handcuffs.
    • 1.Handcuff cases may be constructed of leather, leather-like synthetic materials, woven nylon polymer, or a rigid composite material.
    • 2.All hardware will be silver or black in color.
  • C.COLOR:
    The finish of the handcuff case will be black in color, free of ornamentation, wrinkles, or defects, and will be smooth without basket weave or high-gloss finish.
    Whenever handcuffs are carried exposed, the handcuffs will be placed in a handcuff case.
