I.Purpose
  • A.This directive:
    • 1.contains addenda which describe various Department community partnerships and engagement strategies supporting the implementation of the Department's community relations strategy.
    • 2.outlines the documented evaluation of the Department's crime prevention programs, including the Department-wide community partnerships and engagement strategies, satisfying CALEA Law Enforcement Standard Chapter 45.
  • B.Department members will refer to the General Order titled "Community Relations Strategy" for the policy governing the Department's community relations strategy.
II.Program Evaluations
  • A.As identified in the General Order entitled "Community Relations Strategy," the Department has established a variety of community partnerships and engagement strategies which are designed to encourage positive community interactions and relationships. The Department will work with the community to identify their concerns, develop effective crime prevention activities, and coordinate the collaborative response.
  • B.The Deputy Chief, Office of Community Policing, will ensure an analysis is conducted of the implemented crime prevention programs, including the Department-wide community partnerships and engagement strategies.
    • 1.The analysis will be conducted by program or strategy and will include identified emerging and chronic crime issues and neighborhood disorder, the geographic areas impacted by the programs, and the community perceptions, or misperceptions, of crime and the crime prevention programs.
    • 2.The analysis will document the evaluation of crime prevention programs and strategies and will be conducted, at least once every three years.
