I.HELMET – GENERAL DUTY, VEHICULAR, AND RIOT
  • A.DESIGN:
    The prescribed duty helmet will be multi-functional for vehicle use, and as a riot helmet designed to work with all body armor and gas masks. The helmet must conform to the head and provide certified protection under NIJ STD 0104.02 and FMVSS 218 (D.O.T.). Vehicular helmet will be form-shaped polyurethane with clear hard-coat finish. Helmet will also have transparent black snap-on visor, cushion padded interior, comfort throat sleeve, rear nape strap and sleeve, quick release strap, foul weather adapter, and tactical duty guard. Decals and star numbers will be properly affixed.

    • 1.Face-shield, full flip, shatterproof UV-treated polycarbon with screw attachment and liquid seal. Face-shield will meet or exceed NIJ Standard-0104.02 for riot protection and will be designed to fit over both the Avon C50 and FM12 respirators.

  • A.AUTHORIZATIONS &
    RESTRICTIONS:
    • 1.If Department member damages or lose the helmet the
      Bureau of Patrol must be informed through written
      notification.
    • 2.Recruits must purchase their duty helmet through the
      Education and Training Division.
    • 3.Decals and star numbers will be Department issued
    • 4.Duty helmet will be worn by members of the Motorcycle
      Unit.
    • 5.Duty helmet will be worn by members of the Mounted
      Unit when conditions/situations deem it necessary or with
      prior notification.
    • 6.The duty helmet will only be worn by members when
      conditions/situations deem it necessary or with prior
      notification.
