Pilot Wings

    The overall length of the Chicago Police pilot wings will be 3 inches measured from wingtip to wingtip. The wings will be high-gloss silver in color and will be detailed to show individual feather designs. Between the wings and attached in front of the wings will be the police officer type Chicago Police star, including appropriate and accurate enamel coloring. The height of the pilot wings will be 1 inch measured from the center and top point of the star to the tip of one of the lower points of the star.
    Pilot wings will be worn only by members currently assigned to pilot duties as a Chicago Police Officer. The pilot wings will be worn centered and above the name/unit designator and Department award ribbons, if applicable.
    Silver colored metal and colored enamel.
    The Chicago city seal will be appropriately colored in enamel, and the words “Police Officer” and “Chicago Police” will be colored in black enamel. All remaining exposed surfaces of the pilot wings will be silver in color.
    The pilot wings will be constructed of at least two pieces: a wing backing with two clasp and post fittings near the tip of each wing, and a Chicago Police “Police Officer” star emblem attached between and in front of the wings. The Chicago Police star emblem will be permanently attached with an adhesive.
    All exposed surfaces of the pilot wings will have a high-gloss finish.
