I.Purpose
This directive:
  • A.identifies supervisory responsibilities for District Law Enforcement.
  • B.satisfies CALEA Law Enforcement Standard Chapters 11, 25, 26, 33, 41, 42, and 53.
II.Definitions
  • A.District Commander - An exempt commanding officer accountable for the performance of all district personnel and the actions taken to address police service and crime suppression activities within a district.
    NOTE:
    The Radio Identification Number of a district commander will be "00" preceded by the district number.
  • B.District Executive Officer - A captain designated as second in command of a district and responsible for assisting the district commander in areas of operation, administration, strategic planning, and evaluation. The district executive officer assumes command of a district in the absence of the district commander.
    NOTE:
    The Radio Identification Number of a district executive officer will be "00X" preceded by the district number.
  • C.District Watch Operations Lieutenant - A lieutenant responsible for overseeing the operational and administrative functions of a watch.
    NOTE:
    The Radio Identification Number of a district watch operations lieutenant will be "99" preceded by the district number.
  • D.District Station Supervisor - A sergeant responsible for overseeing the operations of a district station.
    NOTE:
    The Radio Identification Number of a district station supervisor will be "01" preceded by the district number.
  • E.District Field Supervisor - A supervisory member responsible for overseeing the field operations of subordinate personnel assigned under their command.
    • 1.The Radio Identification Number of a district field lieutenant will be "90" preceded by the district number.
      • a.Radio Identification Number "190F" will be utilized for the lieutenant assigned to oversee the 001 District Foot Patrol.
      • b.Radio Identification Number "1891" will be utilized for the lieutenant assigned to oversee the 018 District Entertainment District Patrol.
    • 2.The Radio Identification Number of a district tactical lieutenant will be "60" preceded by the district number.
    • 3.The Radio Identification Number of district field sergeants will be based on the sector or nature of their assignment.
