I.Purpose
This directive informs Department members of pertinent sections of the Municipal Code of Chicago (MCC) that relate to Mobile Food Dispensers and Frozen Dessert Vehicles.

III.Enforcement
  • A.Persons possessing a mobile food dispensers license under Section 4-8-020(c) may not be cited for a violation of Chapter 4-244 (Peddlers) unless the mobile food dispenser license also sells sundry items (e.g., razor blades, combs).
  • B.Persons possessing a frozen dessert license under Section 4-8-020(c), and a vehicle sticker licensing emblem under Section 4-36-070 may not be cited for a violation of Section 4-8-290 (Vehicle requirements); however, all other provisions of Chapter 4-8 apply to frozen dessert vehicles.
  • C.Enforcement of certain provisions of Chapters 4-8 and 4-36 require specific technical knowledge and is therefore the primary responsibility of other City Departments. Sworn members who observe either license or operation regulation violations will take appropriate enforcement action.
