Chicago Board of Education Employee Arrest Notification

This directive outlines the required notification procedures when a Chicago Board of Education employee is arrested for a criminal offense.
  • A.For the purposes of this directive, a Chicago Board of Education (CBE) employee is defined as an individual receiving a payroll check from the CBE or is contractually employed by the CBE.
  • B.When a CBE employee is charged with a felony or a violation of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) governing firearms, narcotics, or sex offenses, the arresting officer will:
    • 1.notify the  Chicago Board of Education Office of School Safety and Security (OSSS) .
    • 2.provide the following information, in sequence, to the notified individual of the Office of School Safety and Security:
      • a.Name of the arrestee.
      • b.Job title (teacher, janitor, engineer, contractor, etc.)
      • c.Address of arrestees residence.
      • d.Arrestees date of birth.
      • e.Name and address of the school or facility where arrestee works.
      • f.Central Booking (CB) and Records Division (RD) numbers.
      • g.Address of arrest.
      • h.Date and time of arrest.
      • i.All charge(s) placed.
      • j.Court branch, address, date, and time.
      • k.Name of arresting officer, star number, and unit of assignment.
        Department members will not provide the notified individual of any victim information from the arrest incident.
    • 3.enter the name of the individual notified and the date and time the notification was made on the appropriate reports.
III.Supervisory Responsibility
Station supervisors will ensure compliance with the required notification procedure as outlined in this directive.
