Chicago Transit Authority Employee Arrest Notification

I.Purpose
This directive outlines the required notification procedures when a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) employee is arrested for a criminal offense.
II.Procedures
  • A.For the purposes of this directive, a Chicago Transit Authority employee is defined as an individual receiving a payroll check from CTA or is contractually employed by CTA.
    NOTE:
    CTA employees are NOT City of Chicago employees.
  • B.When a CTA employee is charged with a felony or a violation of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) governing firearms, narcotics, driving under the influence (DUI), or sex offenses, the arresting officer will:
    • 1.notify  CTA's Department of Security
    • 2.provide the following information, in sequence, to the CTA’s Department of Security:
      • a.Name of the arrestee.
      • b.Address of arrestee’s residence.
      • c.Arrestee’s date of birth.
      • d.Central Booking (CB) and Records Division (RD) numbers.
      • e.Address of arrest.
      • f.Date and time of arrest.
      • g.All charge(s) placed.
      • h.Court branch, address, date, and time.
      • i.Name of arresting officer, star number, and unit of assignment.
        NOTE:
        Department members will not provide the notified individual of any victim information from the arrest incident.
    • 3.enter the name of the individual notified and the date and time the notification was made on the appropriate reports.
III.Supervisory Responsibility
Station supervisors will ensure compliance with the required notification procedure as outlined in this directive.
